The Rome and Glory slot from Playtech may not be on that many slots players' radars but it's a bit of a hidden gem in my opinion. It's not for the faint-hearted for sure, being very high volatility, but if you are familiar with the Book Of Ra Deluxe slot from Novomatic then I think you're going to like Rome And Glory.
The key to the Rome And Glory slot is the feature round which is a free spins bonus with expanding scatter symbols. The Colosseum scatter symbol in normal play doubles up as the wild symbol and when you get 3 or more in view you trigger the feature. At this point, Rome And Glory selects one symbol at random to become an expanding scatter. It also adds extra wild and scatter symbols to the reels meaning the chances of a retrigger is higher and indeed, happens quite often thus awarding 10 more free spins.
The expanding scatter symbol is the key to big wins and big they most certainly can be. On one occasion, I got the Emperor symbol as the expanding scatter and 4 of them landed on one spin for a return of 1000x my bet! But it's rare. Nonetheless, if you walk way from the bonus feature with less than 50x it's highly unusual and more often than not it will be 100x plus. It's worth noting that during normal play not a lot happens unless you can get some Emperor or Empress symbols lining up so be prepared for long periods of nothing!
I love Rome and Glory but then I am a fan of high volatility slots.
