If you think you had a great festive season, consider how delighted a West Yorkshire grannie must have been with big online bingo wins within days of each other at Christmas and New Year!

Playing on the Ladbrokes bingo site, the unnamed grandmother celebrated Christmas with a £ 31,000 bingo take-home, within days following that with an early start to 2013 on the same site by winning a jackpot of £ 250,000 from a £ 10 stake.

In the larger win, the player had wagered on the 'Bouncing Balls' game on the site, and was shocked but delighted to see eight of the jackpot symbols appear, heralding the award of the progressive jackpot.

The player, who at first thought she had won only £ 500, soon realised that it was a much more significant windfall, telling Ladbrokes staffers:

"I'd already had an amazing run and was chuffed to pieces. I then saw the £ 500 and was over the moon but slowly it dawned on me that I may have landed the big jackpot. It must have only been seconds in real time but it felt like hours until it was confirmed. I've barely slept since!"

A holiday and a new house are top of grannie's shopping list, thanks to the bank account-boosting bonanza.

"First things first, I'd like to buy a new house," she said with Yorkshire practicality. "I'll then round up all my children and grandchildren and go on holiday straight away - but I'm not worried about the weather so we'll just go down the road to Haven!"

Ladbrokes Bingo typically dishes out prize money worth around £ 5 million a month, a company spokesman said this week, commenting that grannie's big hit was the first major winner of the new year. The site reported a million-pound winner during last summer's Euro 2012 tournaments.
